Artistic Statement

 

As a dancer and choreographer, I am interested in exploring the moment in which the body releases into the movement and begins to travel, devouring the space.  The surprise of where I will end in space creates a moment of disorientation and unpredictability which I find beautiful.  This constant dichotomy in and out of stability engages the body in a physical manner to move through various surfaces of the body.  With multiple movers in the space, it becomes a beautiful chaos of converging and exploding forms.  An outside observer can feel the energy build as the dancers move towards one another and burst as the group can no longer contain the force.  The spectrum of dynamic qualities of the movement commands attention through shouts and whispers.  There is an element of uncertainty in my dancing and choreographies making each performance exciting, a unique variation on a theme.
