Post Modern Manifesto Unit Plan
In this unit, high school dance students in the advanced class study the post modern dance era. Students will then embody the tenants of post-modern dance through a short movement study and reawaken their critiquing and feedback skills through analysis writing and peer feedback. In the middle of the unit students will take ownership over their creative process, and develop their unique post-modern inspired no-manifesto site-specific solo. They will have ownership over the costuming and sound development and will further develop their creative skills all through documenting their process and thoughts. They will engage in works and process showings mimicking the authentic choreography world and gaining feedback from their classmates. The end of the unit will bring about a final showing of students lengthened works and class discussion of process and feedback. Students will add this to their final portfolio and revise their resumes for the end of year portfolio showing.
